This Hungarian St Nicholas should probably have an empty sack by now. He was a present from our Scottish friend and Lola B’s Godmother. She lives in Hungary with her Hungarian husband and their lovely daughter, where she organises and calls Scottish dances amongst many other things, and where he makes his own wine and swims out to his boat amongst many other things.
We should have met up with our friend in Brussels this weekend, as it was there that we met each other, but their daughter was quite ill in hospital with bronchitis and not responding well to antibiotics. However strong the pull of a 20 year reunion of old friends, the pull of a child always wins. We missed our friend, as did many more of those assembled in Brussels on Saturday evening, but we are very happy that her daughter is now out of hospital and much, much better.
