This is a wonderful picture. Do you know anything about the artist?

No, I don’t. I’m afraid I “borrowed” it from a Google image search, but I’ll try and find out from the site where it was originally posted!
Glad you’re still reading, SD. Catching up a bit?

Wow there is actually a prayer called the Jesus Prayer and it is a great way of praying. Ask a priest about it. It is really awesome.

what is so special about this picture? Do you think this is jesus in this picture or some unknown person? If you think this is jesus then your question should be WHO is jesus praying too…most christians say jesus IS GOD so is jesus praying to himself or what…

Omar, I cannot answer your first question. It needs a subjective answer – perhaps you don’t respond to the picture in the same way as some others have. That’s fine, art is subjective, not everybody has to like the same pictures.
I suppose, for me, the picture conjured up the struggle that Jesus felt within himself, that we feel within ourselves. Christians believe that Jesus was man and God. It seems impossible that those two things should be true at the same time, but it is one of the mysteries of the faith. Theologians have, for centuries, been offering ways of interpreting that truth and, a bit like the picture, the interpretation which suits you is subjective. All the interpretations argue that theirs is the right one, and, by implication, the others are wrong. Sometimes it is just easier to say that it is a mystery which does not need to be understood, just accepted. I think there are many other things in life that we accept without understanding them.

Omar,
Jesus is praying to his father, when he came down to earth he came as a human. He suffered as a human and had the same needs as a human. That is the simplest explanation I could offer you.

Ismini, I meant to say (because I thought it) that I couldn’t have put it better myself :). Thanks for the simplicity – why complicate matters!
